Dining Table Size Guide
The right dining table size balances comfort, flow, and visual proportion.
Seating Guidelines
- 4 people: 48–60 inches
- 6 people: 72 inches
- 8 people: 84–96 inches
- 10+ people: 108 inches or custom
Allow 24–30 inches per person for comfortable seating.
Clearance Rules
Maintain at least 36 inches of clearance from table edge to walls or furniture. This allows chairs to pull out and people to move freely.
Shape Considerations
- Rectangular: best for long rooms and larger groups
- Round: ideal for small spaces and conversation
- Live edge: visually larger—plan extra clearance
Common Mistakes
- Ignoring chair depth
- Forgetting walkways
- Choosing size before room layout
